THE EUROPEAN ABC "Awareness of Borders to Cross"

March 30, 2020

Welcome to our website Erasmus+ „The European ABC – Awareness of Borders to Cross“

We are students and teachers from high schools in Parabiago/Italy, Bendinat/Spain, Torun/Poland and Syke/Germany. We have done some great international projects in the past, and now we are cooperating again in our latest project - „The European ABC“ - „Awareness of Borders to Cross“. We do not only meet new friends in Europe but also learn about the lives, hopes and fears of those young people who are seeking refuge in Europe or live as migrants in our countries. We try to look over our horizons, learn about each other, overcome prejudice and respect each other – and absorb the manifold inspirations we get from each others' beliefs and values. We want to be active European citizens who believe in democracy, freedom and equality. We have been working, travelling, laughing and crying together with our friends from Syria, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe and other countries. Here you will find documents, fotos, videos and much more about our beautiful successful Erasmus+ Project “The European ABC”.
Final outcomes of the project

Mesud’s Story

….. I have even planned my whole future as I was 12: just keep doing what you’re doing and go to university, become an English teacher, get a wife, then have 3 children and live happily ever after….

Eva’s  Story

I have never planned to leave Poland. I made a miserable baby-sitter, a little better au-pair for an elderly lady and a pretty good waitress. And I got lucky: ……. Funny how life plays out.

Mohamed’s Story

In Gambia there were problems so I had to leave. I went to Libya and stayed there for seven months. Then I run away from there and come to Italy by boat.

These stories are not produced by  fertile brains, they are true stories  written by life itself. Determined by human conduct, life has created a lot of unlikely scenarios which are told in emotional but at the same time surprisingly rational ways. Reading them, we are reminded what is needed to live a happy life. Although all of the stories are about suffering a horrible fate, they are filled with  positive  energy. Is  it enough  to make the world a better place? You might try to find the answer in this book.

The metal art object “The European ABC” with the words chosen by all students, designed by the Arts Department of the Spanish school, manufactured by the Metal Department of the German school. It expresses the hopes of young people for Europe. Here you can see the history of the metal tree “The European ABC”.
